The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for retired or semi-retired persons, age 55 or older, to volunteer service in Sangamon, Menard and Logan counties of Illinois. RSVP matches volunteers to not-for-profit and government organizations that benefit from their experience and expertise. RSVP volunteers are involved in the delivery of meals to homebound seniors, leading tours at museums and other tourist attractions, and working with area hospitals, schools, food pantries, offices, veterans centers and much more.
RSVP volunteers choose how, where, and how often they want to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours to 40 hours per week. In our 3 counties, RSVP had over 350 volunteers that provided nearly 62,000 hours of service in 2015.
With RSVP, you’ll receive pre-service orientation, training from the organization where you serve, and supplemental insurance while on duty.
Remember, when you volunteer, you’re not just helping others – you’re helping yourself. Volunteering leads to new discoveries and new friends. Plus, studies show that volunteering helps you live longer and promotes a positive outlook on life. So, get involved and join RSVP today!
